Production on the previously announced film adaptation of the epic John Milton poem Paradise Lost has been postponed, according to Deadline.com. Director Alex Proyas was set to begin work on the film, which stars Broadway veterans Bradley Cooper and Benjamin Walker, as well as Rock of Ages film star Diego Boneta, in January 2012 in Australia. Budget concerns for the $120 million film are credited as the cause of delay.
Originally published in 1687, John Milton's Paradise Lost is an epic poem that recounts the biblical story of the fall of man and the war between good and evil. Boneta was set to play Adam opposite Camilla Belle as Eve. Cooper would take on the role of Lucifer, with Walker playing archangel Michael.
Paradise Lost features a screenplay by Ryan Condal, Phili de Blasi, Stuart Hazeldine, Lawrence Kasdan and Byron Willinger. Producers hope to rework the film's budget and begin production in the late spring.
