Tony nominee Mary Testa and the cast of Queen of the Mist, the Transport Group's recent off-Broadway production of Michael John LaChiusa's musical, will record a cast album. The album will be produced by Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records, with a release date yet to be announced.
Based on the true story of Anna Edson Taylor (Testa), Queen of the Mist follows her adventures as the first woman to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. Queen of the Mist was mounted at The Gym at Judson Memorial Church, and ran off-Broadway from November 6 through December 4. In addition to Testa, the musical’s cast included D.C. Anderson, Stanley Bahorek, Theresa McCarthy, Julia Murney, Andrew Samonsky and Tally Sessions.
LaChiusa earned Tony Award nominations for the score and books of The Wild Party and Marie Christine, as well as a nod for the book of Chronicle of a Death Foretold. Testa received Tony nominations for 42nd Street and On the Town. She has also appeared on Broadway in Barnum, Marilyn, The Rink, Chicago, Marie Christine, Something Good, Xanadu and Guys and Dolls.
