It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game and Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson headed courtside to the Walter Kerr Theatre to get in on the action of Broadway’s ballsy new musical Lysistrata Jones. After a Spartans 30-year losing streak, winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing for Athens University head cheerleader Lyssie J. (Patti Murin) and her coquettish cheerleading squad, who “give up, on giving it up” to their basketball playing boyfriends, including team captain Mick (Josh Segarra), until they start winning. Check out the student body, including curly-haired poetry slam artist Robin (Lindsay Nicole Chambers) and blogger Xander (Jason Tam) all under the watchful eye of Greek goddess and narrator Hetaira (Liz Mikel), in Squigs’ sporty sketch and then head to Broadway to cheer on this new musical comedy.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Click to e-mail Squigs. Photo by Matthew Murphy
