As the curtain goes down on 2011, Broadway.com is looking ahead to the new year. We’ve asked the brightest stars on Broadway to reflect on their personal highlights from the past year and to reveal their hopes for 2012. Check out what they had to say, and have a Happy New Year!
HUGH PANARO (The Phantom in Phantom of the Opera)
Highlight of 2011: “One of my favorite moments was back in early summer. I had just recorded a demo for my friend Brad Haak. Besides being an amazing conductor, he also does beautiful orchestrations. We recorded Stephen Sondheim's “Marry Me a Little.” I heard a rough cut that day in the studio, and about a month later I received the final cut. The day was June 24, 2011, the same day gay marriage was legalized in New York. I thought it was the perfect song for such a historic day! Now everyone can register at William Sonoma!”
Resolution for 2012: “I could put you to sleep with my endless quests to eat better, work out more and lower my cholesterol. But this year, my new year's resolution is to reach out to my friends more. Doing eight shows a week, I tend to be a bit of a hermit and I really miss connecting with my loved ones. I'm HORRIBLE about returning phone calls and answering e-mails and only slightly better about texting! It is my goal to change that for 2012. I need to see my peeps!”
Keep checking for more resolutions from your favorite stars.
