Broadway vet Jane Kaczmarek will take on the role of Margie Walsh in the Los Angeles premiere of Good People at the Geffen Playhouse. Written by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire and directed by Matt Shakman, the production begins previews on April 3, with opening night on set for April 11. The limited engagement runs through May 13. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
Good People tells the story of Margie, who seeks help from well-to-do ex-boyfriend after being laid off from her job at a dollar store. Lindsay-Abaire’s dark comedy originally premiered at Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman, presented by the Manhattan Theatre Club, in spring of 2011. The show received a Tony Award for Best Actress (Frances McDormand) and a nomination for Best Play.
Three-time Golden Globe and seven-time Emmy Award nominee Jane Kaczmarek appeared on Broadway in Lost in Yonkers and in Los Angeles productions of Awake and Sing, Death of a Salesman, Kindertransport, Dinner With Friends, Raised in Captivity and Mother Words. She is best known as Lois on TV’s Malcolm in the Middle.
Good People will include scenic design by Craig Siebels, costume design by E.B. Brooks, lighting design by Elizabeth Harper and sound design by Jonathan Snipes.
