Opening night gifts for co-stars can be a head-scratcher for Broadway actors, but Chinglish’s Gary Wilmes came up with a doozy. Inspired by a line in the show referring to a character’s loathing for famous Chinese acrobats, Wilmes surprised his entire cast with a trapeze lesson. On a recent chilly Monday morning in Brooklyn, this game group of actors got together at the Streb Lab for Action Mechanics to put their flying skills to the test. Though they were almost all first-time fliers, these bilingual Broadway stars proved to be naturals. There was flying and there was falling, and Broadway.com wasn’t about to miss it.
