Cross-Cultural Off-Broadway Comedy Outside People Celebrates Opening Night

Zayd Dorhn’s new comedy of manners Outside People headed inside the Vineyard Theatre for opening night on January 10. Starring Li Jun Li, Matthew Dellapina, Nelson Lee and Sonequa Martin-Green, the play, directed by Evan Cabnet, tells the story of Malcolm (Dellapina), a young American who travels to Beijing and begins a romance with Xiao Mei (Li). Almost instantly, his eyes are opened to the distinct social, political and economic differences in their backgrounds that may get in the way of their relationship.
