The world premiere of Erika Sheffer’s play Russian Transport, starring Janeane Garofalo, begins previews at off-Broadway's Acorn Theatre on Theatre Row on January 17. The New Group production, helmed by artistic director Scott Elliot, will open officially on January 30 and run through March 10.
In addition to Garofalo (Diana), the cast of Russian Transport features Daniel Oreskes (Misha), Morgan Spector (Boris), Sarah Steele (Mira) and Raviv Ullman (Alex).
Russian Transport is the story of an immigrant couple and their two assimilated teenagers. When the mysterious and sexy Uncle Boris visits from the old country to achieve his American dream, the family’s loyalty is tested.
The production’s creative team includes set designer Derek McLane, lighting designer Peter Kaczorowski, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward and sound design by Bart Fasbender.
