Tickets for the romantic new musical Once, based on the independent film of the same name, are now on sale. The show, starring Steve Kazee and Cristin Milioti, will begin previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on February 28, with opening night set for March 18. John Tiffany directs.
Featuring a score by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, who won an Academy Award for the Once song “Falling Slowly,” the show is set on the streets of Dublin. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and artistic collaboration between a street musician (Guy) and a Czech immigrant (Girl). quickly evolves into a powerful but complicated love story.
The musical adaptation features a book by Irish playwright Enda Walsh, movement by Steven Hoggett (director Tiffany’s collaborator on Black Watch), set and costume design by five-time Tony winner Bob Crowley, music direction by Martin Lowe, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Clive Goodwin.
