Things are kicking into gear at off-Broadway’s Second Stage Theatre, where a revival of Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play How I Learned to Drive begins performances on January 24, starring Norbert Leo Butz and Elizabeth Reaser. Directed by Kate Whoriskey, the production will officially open on February 13 and conclude its limited run on March 11.
How I Learned to Drive explores the complex relationship between Li’l Bit (Reaser) and her Uncle Peck (Butz), as a series of driving lessons progresses from innocence to something much darker. Joining Butz and Reaser on stage are Kevin Cahoon, Jennifer Regan and Marnie Schulenburg. The play premiered at the Vineyard Theatre in 1997 in an acclaimed production that starred David Morse and Mary-Louise Parker.
