What is your happiest Valentine's Day memory?
My happiest Valentine's Day memory so far is last year's Valentine's Day. My "valentine" is on tour, and was last year as well, but he happened to have a week off and Valentine's Day was his last day in town. It was such perfect timing. We don't get to see each other all the time, so we got pretty lucky to have Valentine's Day together in New York. We spent the whole day enjoying some of our favorite New York spots, and when I came home from my show that night he had cooked dinner and made a whole Valentine's spread for us, complete with music, dessert, champagne...the best.
What was your biggest Valentine's Day disaster?
In grade school, I had a crush on a boy in my class and decided (after much consideration) to make his Valentine card special...I think I added hearts on it or something. Well, he was not amused. He opened the card, and when he saw the hearts he ran around to everyone in the class to check if their cards had hearts on them too. Of course they didn't. He made a huge scene about the hearts and I was mortified and crushed. Sigh.
What Broadway song would you use for a Valentine's Day serenade?
Gershwin's "I've Got a Crush On You." Yep, that's the one. I love that song, and hopefully whoever I was serenading with it would love it too!
Tell us the perfect menu for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner.
Mmm...I'm thinking maybe lobster (my favorite food...and it's red) with risotto on the side, and maybe a candied walnut and mixed greens salad with gorgonzola cheese and red beets, something sweet and colorful. But really, Valentine's day is all about the dessert, which for me would be LOTS of chocolatey deliciousness, fresh raspberries and red wine.
