Erica Sheffer’s new family drama Russian Transport opens January 30 at off-Broadway’s Acorn Theatre on Theatre Row. The New Group production, helmed by artistic director Scott Elliott, stars Janeane Garofalo, Daniel Oreskes, Sarah Steele, Morgan Spector and Raviv Ullman.
Set in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, Russian Transport tells the story of a Russian immigrant couple, Diana (Garofalo) and Misha (Oreskes) raising two assimilated teenagers, Mira (Steele) and Alex (Ullman). When their mysterious and fascinating Uncle Boris (Spector) comes to visit from Russia, the teens become enmeshed in their family’s dark secrets.
“[Russian Transport] has been one of my most enjoyable working experiences,” Garofalo recently told Broadway.com. “All I want to do after this is continue with these people and do another play, and another one, and another one.”
The limited engagement concludes its run on March 10.
