Newcomer George Blagden will play Grantaire in the all-star Les Miserables film, according to Variety. As the drunken schoolboy turned solider, Blagden will join Aaron Tveit and Eddie Redmayne in the stirring number “Red and Black” and the bittersweet lullaby “Drink with Me.” The film, directed by Tom Hooper, is set for a December 7 release.
The star-studded cast includes Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Taylor Swift as Eponine, Russell Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Redmayne as Marius, Sacha Baron Cohen as Monsieur Thenardier, Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier and Tveit as Enjolras. Original cast members Colm Wilkinson and Frances Ruffelle will also make appearances in the film.
Blagden appeares in the upcoming Clash of the Titans sequel, Wrath of the Titans, with Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson, as well as the independent film The Philosophers. His U.K. stage credits include Kiss Me Kate, Into the Woods and The Blue Room.
