After tackling the work of pop music legends Madonna, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears, it was only a matter of time until Glee got around to honoring the late Michael Jackson with a tribute episode. In the January 31 episode the New Directions found strength and inspiration from the music of Michael Jackson as they went up against revival glee club The Dalton Warblers. The episode honored some of Jackson's most recognizable dance moves and fashion choices, as well as the famous “Black and White” music video morphing sequence.
