Four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh has joined the cast of Michael McDonald’s NBC drama pilot Beautiful People, according to Deadline.com. The cast also features Frances Conroy, Patrick Heusinger, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Jud Tylor, Andrea Parker, Cody Christian, James Murray and David Conrad in the new project. A release date has not yet been set.
Set in the near future, Beautiful People explores a world where mechanical androids live among humans. Although they look the same, these robots are treated like second-class citizens. Feldshuh will play the head of the police department’s Mechanical Control Division, which attempts to keep the androids in a powerless position.
Feldshuh garnered Tony nominations for Golda’s Balcony, Lend Me a Tenor, Sarava and Yentl. She made her Broadway debut in Cyrano and has also appeared in Irena’s Vow, Rodgers & Hart and Dreyfus in Rehearsal. Her film and TV credits include Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Good Wife, Ugly Betty and Kissing Jessica Stein.
