Two-time Tony winner Patti LuPone will be the inaugural performer at 54 Below, a new supper club located downstairs from Broadway’s Studio 54, according to the New York Times. The 160-seat space will host performances by Broadway stars including Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, Tony winner Ben Vereen, Tony nominee Brian D’Arcy James, Smash's Megan Hilty, three-time Tony nominee Rebecca Luker and former Broadway.com video blogger Jackie Hoffman. LuPone will play a two-week limited engagement to kick off the official opening in June.
The new supper club will have the feel of a speakeasy and offer food and drinks during each performance. 54 Below will offer up to three live shows per night, and will feature instrumental lounge music on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Other confirmed performers include Tony winner Andrea Martin, Tony winner Linda Lavin, Julia Murney, Lea DeLaria, Eden Espinosa, Michael Arden, Tony DeSare and Mx. Justin Vivian Bond.
54 Below is designed by Tony winner John Lee Beatty and architect Richard Lewis, lit by Tony winner Ken Billington and will feature sound by Tony nominee Peter Hylenski.
