As a monologist, Mike Daisey pursues his obsessions for a living. Chief among them is technology, and Apple products in particular. After a long love affair with these items, Daisey’s curiosity was piqued when images taken inside a Chinese factory that produces them appeared on the Web. He traveled to China to investigate how the objects that he—and so many of us—rely on, and chronicled his journey in the solo show The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs. Broadway.com headed to the Public Theater to chat with Daisey and his longtime director/collaborator Jean-Michele Gregory about the secrets of crafting a compelling one-man show, and to hear first-hand what they find so fascinating about the late genius Steve Jobs and his empire.
