Plans for the previously announced film adaptation of John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost has been scrapped, according to Deadline.com. Production on the Legendary Pictures movie, which was to star Broadway veterans Bradley Cooper and Benjamin Walker, as well as Rock of Ages film star Diego Boneta, was set to begin in January, but was later postponed until summer. Budget concerns for the $120 million film are credited as the cause of the film's demise.
Originally published in 1687, John Milton's Paradise Lost is an epic poem that recounts the biblical story of the fall of man and the war between good and evil. Boneta was to play Adam opposite Camilla Belle as Eve. Cooper was to take on the role of Lucifer, with Walker as the archangel Michael.
Paradise Lost was to be directed by Alex Proyas and feature a screenplay by Ryan Condal, Phili de Blasi, Stuart Hazeldine, Lawrence Kasdan and Byron Willinger.
