Complete casting has been announced for the upcoming Broadway transfer of One Man, Two Guvnors. As previously announced, James Corden will reprise his starring role as Francis Henshall in the Richard Bean comedy, based on Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters, which features songs by Grant Olding. The show will begin previews at the Music Box Theatre on April 6, and officially open on April 18. Nicholas Hytner will direct.
Corden will be joined by his ‘two guvnors’ from London, co-stars Oliver Chris as Stanley Stubbers and Jemima Rooper as Rachel Crabbe. Also reprising their London roles will be Tom Edden as Alfie, Martyn Ellis as Harry Dangle, Trevor Laird as Lloyd Boateng, Claire Lams as Pauline Clench, Fred Ridgeway as Charlie Clench, Daniel Rigby as Alan Dangle and Suzie Toase as Dolly. The company will also include Brian Gonzales, Eli James, Ben Livingston, Sarah Manton, Stephen Pilkington, David Ryan Smith, Natalie Smith.
In One Man, Two Guvnors, Corden stars as the always famished and easily confused Francis Henshall. He becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small-time East End hood, but Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who’s been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers. Francis takes a second job with one Stanley Stubbers, who is hiding from the police and waiting to be re-united with Rachel. To prevent discovery, Francis must keep his two guvnors apart.
