Colin Donnell, who stars as Billy Crocker in the Broadway revival of Anything Goes, has been cast in the CW drama pilot Arrow, according to Deadline.com. The new pilot is an updated retelling of the DC Comics character Green Arrow, starring Stephen Amell (Hung) as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. A shooting date for the pilot has not yet been announced.
Donnell joins the upcoming pilot as Tommy Merlyn, a wealthy playboy and Oliver Queen’s best friend. Oliver, who uses archery and martial arts to fight crime as his secret alter-ego, Green Arrow, is no longer the fun-loving wingman that Merlyn had hoped for.
Donnell made his Broadway debut in Jersey Boys. He is an original cast member of the Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, but took a brief leave of absence to star in the Encores! Production of Merrily We Roll Along. Donnell made his TV debut as a recurring guest star on Pan Am this season.
