One of the most infamous musicals of all time Carrie returns to New York after an absence of 23 years. This revamped, reimagined Carrie opens off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on March 1. The MCC production, starring Marin Mazzie and Molly Ranson and directed by Stafford Arima, will terrorize audiences through April 22.
Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, Carrie tells the story of tormented girl (Ranson) with telekinetic powers and her relationships with her overbearing mother (Mazzie) and the mean kids at school.
Carrie has not been seen in New York since its legendary 1988 Broadway production, which closed after five performances. MCC’s Carrie features additional music and lyrics by Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford and an updated book by Lawrence D. Cohen, who adapted the King's novel for the 1976 film directed by Brian DePalma.
