Broadway vet Norm Lewis (Porgy and Bess) and Tony nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger (Peter and the Starcatcher) have joined the roster of the Public Theater’s Public Sings! An Unforgettable Celebration of Musical Theater. Directed by Daisy Prince, the event takes place March 5 at Joe’s Pub, and will benefit the Public Theater.
Also newly added to the list of performers are Tituss Burgess (The Little Mermaid), Tony nominee John Ellison Conlee (The Constant Wife), Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Matt Doyle (War Horse), Renee Elise Goldsberry (The Color Purple), Greg Hildreth (Peter and the Starcatcher), Eli James (One Man, Two Guvnors), Justin Levine (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Betsy Morgan (A Little Night Music), Jessica Phillips (Leap of Faith), Tony nominee Bobby Steggert (Ragtime), and Katie Thompson (Giant).
The performers join previously announced stars Tony winner Alan Cumming (Cabaret), three-time Tony nominee Kelli O’Hara (South Pacific), Tony winner Laura Benanti (Gyspy), four-time Tony nominee Raul Esparza (Company), Benjamin Walker (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Jesse L. Martin (Rent), David Byrne, Gabriel Kahane and Ethan Lipton.
Public Sings! is a celebration of musicals produced by the Public Theater, including Hair, A Chorus Line, Caroline, or Change and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. The evening will also include selections from February House and Into the Woods, which will be produced by the Public Theater this summer. Tickets are still available for the one-night-only event.
