British Family Drama Tribes Opens Off-Broadway, Starring Mare Winningham

The North American premiere of Nina Raine’s Tribes opens March 4 at off-Broadway’s Barrow Street Theatre. Directed by David Cromer, the family drama stars Mare Winningham, Russell Harvard, Jeff Perry, Gayle Rankin, Will Brill and Susan Pourfar.

Set in England, Tribes is the story of Billy (Harvard), a deaf twenty-something who fights to find his own voice within his loud and opinionated hearing family. When Billy meets Sylvia (Pourfar), a young woman who is going deaf, he discovers a way to finally be heard, turning his family’s lives upside down in the process.

The Tribes creative team includes scenic designer Scott Pask, lighting designer Keith Parham, costume designer Tristan Raines, projection designer Jeff Sugg and sound designer Daniel Kluger.
