The third preview performance of Broadway’s Evita has been canceled. As previously reported, Evita had to cancel the March 13 performance because the Marquis Theatre's deluge system, a large reservoir of water stored above the stage released in case of fire, went off unexpectedly. Performances were expected to resume for the matinee on March 14, but now will resume for the evening performance.
The first-ever Broadway revival of Evita, directed by Michael Grandage, stars Ricky Martin as Che, Elena Roger as Eva Peron and Michael Cerveris as Juan Peron. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical charts the rise and fall of Eva Peron, the one-time charismatic and glamorous young First Lady of Argentina, and includes songs such as “Buenos Aires,” “Another Suitcase in Another Hall” and “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.”
Evita began preview performances on March 12 and is scheduled to open on April 5.
