Dharma & Greg star Jenna Elfman will play the First Lady and stepmother to The Book of Mormon’s Josh Gad in the NBC pilot, 1600 Penn, according to Deadline.com. In addition to starring, Gad will also serve as co-writer and executive producer of the presidential comedy. Elfman joins previously announced stars Bill Pullman and Brittany Snow.
1600 Penn follows a dysfunctional First Family in which the out-of-control oldest son (Gad) returns home and becomes not only its biggest liability, but also the glue holding everyone together. Elfman will play a street-smart First Lady from the working-class. Gad co-created the sitcom with frequent Modern Family director Jason Winer and Jon Lovett, a former speechwriter to President Obama.
In addition to her leading role in Dharma & Greg, Elfman’s television credits include Accidentally on Purpose, Townies, Damages and Two and a Half Men. Elfman’s film credits include Friends with Benefits, EDtv, Keeping the Faith and Can’t Hardly Wait.
