Casting is set for the West End revival of Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys, starring the previously announced Danny DeVito and Richard Griffiths. The production will play the Savoy Theatre beginning April 27. Directed by Thea Sharrock, The Sunshine Boys officially opens on May 17 and concludes its limited run on July 28.
Joining DeVito and Sharrock are Rebecca Blackstone (Cool Hand Luke) as Miss MacKintosh, Nick Blakeley (13) as Eddie, Peter Cadden (Pygmalion) as Voice of TV Director, Johnnie Fiori (Hairspray) as Registered Nurse, Adam Levy (Henry V) as Ben Silverman and William Maxwell (A Flea in Her Ear) as Patient.
The Sunshine Boys tells the story of ageing vaudevillian team Willie Clark and Al Lewis as they're asked to reunite on TV. The play was originally staged on Broadway in 1972 and earned three Tony nominations including Best Play. The Sunshine Boys was adapted into a movie in 1975 starring George Burns and Walter Matthau.
The Sunshine Boys will feature set designs by Hildegard Bechtler with lighting by Neil Austin and sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph.
