Bunheads, starring two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster and Tony winner Kelly Bishop, will premiere June 11 on ABC Family. The upcoming TV series by Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino will air Monday nights at 9/8 PM Eastern/Central.
The new series stars Foster as a trained ballerina who works as a Vegas showgirl. On a whim, she gets married, moves to Paradise, California, and takes a teaching job at her mother-in-law’s (Bishop's) dance studio.
Foster won Tony Awards for Thoroughly Modern Millie and Anything Goes, and has also appeared on Broadway in Shrek the Musical, Young Frankenstein, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Annie, Grease and Les Miserables.
Bishop won a Tony for A Chorus Line, and has also appeared on Broadway in Promises, Promises, Golden Rainbow, On the Town, Precious Sons, Six Degrees of Separation, Bus Stop, The Last Night of Ballyhoo and Proposals. Bishop starred opposite Foster in Anything Goes and reunites with Sherman-Palladino after appearing on TV’s Gilmore Girls for seven seasons.
