Daniel Radcliffe has swapped Harry Potter’s glasses for a new set of specs as Beat Generation poet Allen Ginsberg in the forthcoming feature film Kill Your Darlings. The How to Succeed vet, winner of Broadway.com's Star of the Year and multiple Audience Choice Awards, was recently photographed on the set decked out as a 1940s student at Columbia University, portraying Ginsberg at the point in his life when he met Jack Kerouac (to be played by Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston), Kerouac’s future wife, Edie (Elizabeth Olsen), Williams Burroughs (Ben Foster) and Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan).
Kill Your Darlings centers on a bizarre stalking and murder case surrounding David Kammerer, to be played in the film by Dexter star and Broadway vet Michael C. Hall. The cast also includes Broadway vet Jennifer Jason Leigh as Ginsberg’s mentally unstable mother. No release date for Kill Your Darlings, directed by John Krokidas, has been announced.
