Justin Matthew Sargent will assume the role of Drew in Broadway’s Rock of Ages beginning March 26. Sargent will succeed Dan Domenech as the bartender-turned-rock star in the ‘80s jukebox musical. Domenech will play his final performance as Drew on March 25. Additionally, Genson Blimline will officially take over the role of Lonny after filling in for Mitchell Jarvis during a leave of absence which began December 19, 2011.
Sargent has appeared on Broadway in Bonnie and Clyde and as a swing in Rock of Ages. His regional credits include Pippin, Jesus Christ Superstar and High School Musical. Blimline has appeared on Broadway in South Pacific and in national tours of A Chorus Line, Smokey Joe’s Café, Grease, Footloose and South Pacific.
Rock of Ages opened on Broadway on April 7, 2009 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Featuring a score of classic rock hits including “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Don’t Stop Believin’,” the jukebox musical tells the story of Drew (Sargent), an aspiring rock star who moves to Los Angeles to make his dreams come true. A film version of Rock of Ages will hit theaters on June 1.
