Venus In Fur’s Hugh Dancy has been cast as one of two leads in NBC’s Hannibal, according to Deadline.com. The 13 episode series, from Gaumont International Television, is written and executive produced by Bryan Fuller and executive produced by Martha De Laurentiis.
Hannibal, based on the classic characters from Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon, revolves around FBI agent Will Graham (Dancy) and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter who are reintroduced at the beginning of their budding relationship.
Dancy made his Broadway debut in the 2008 Tony-winning revival of Journey’s End and currently matches wits with Nina Arianda in Venus in Fur. His other stage credits include off-Broadway’s The Pride and To the Green Fields on the West End. His many small screen credits include his Emmy-nominated role in the HBO miniseries Elizabeth I and Showtime’s The Big C. His many films include Adam, The Jane Austen Book Club, Evening, Hysteria and My Idiot Brother.
