Smash star and Broadway veteran Megan Hilty has landed a recording contract with Columbia Records through Sony subsidiary Masterworks, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No album release date has been announced.
Hilty will be in good company at Columbia Records joining fellow Smash star and American Idol alum Katherine McPhee and Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth who recently released her fourth solo album, Some Lessons Learned, on the label.
After making her Broadway debut as Glinda in Wicked (a role she repeated on the national tour and in Los Angeles), Hilty played Doralee in the Broadway production of 9 to 5. In addition to starring as Ivy Lynn on Smash, Hilty provided vocals for the upcoming animated film Dorothy of Oz with Kelsey Grammer, Hugh Dancy and Lea Michele. She is also set to headline the Encores! revival of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes this summmer.
