The starry revival of Tennessee Williams' landmark play A Streetcar Named Desire is pulling into Broadway as previews begin at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 3. Blair Underwood, Nicole Ari Parker, Wood Harris and Daphne Rubin-Vega headline this classic play, directed by Emily Mann. A Streetcar Named Desire officially opens on April 22.
Streetcar tells the tragic story of fragile former schoolteacher Blanche (Parker), who leaves the family plantation house and moves to New Orleans to live with her sister, Stella (Rubin-Vega), and Stella’s animalistic husband, Stanley (Underwood). She quickly gets a gritty life lesson in the seamy, steamy underbelly of the 1940s French Quarter.
