The 57th Annual Village Voice Obie Awards ceremony will be held on May 21 at Webster Hall in New York City. The awards will be presented by Eric McCormack, Grace Gummer, Hugh Dancy, Jonathan Pryce, Juliet Rylance, Lily Rabe, Michael McKean, Topher Grace and Tracee Chimo. Co-hosts and entertainment for the ceremony will be announced shortly.
Village Voice arts and cultural editor Brian Parks is the chair of judges at this year’s awards. Additional judges include Alexis Soloski, Michael Feingold, Annie Baker, Anne Kauffman, Jose Rivera and Helen Shaw.
The Village Voice Obie Awards were founded by Jerry Tallmer in 1956. The Awards honor the best of off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway. Nominations are not listed publically. The awards feature informal categories that change annually, recognizing persons and productions of excellence.
