Evita is back on Broadway for the first time since its 1979 premiere. Michael Grandage’s anticipated revival starring Elena Roger as Eva, Ricky Martin as Che and Michael Cerveris as Juan Peron officially opens at the Marquis Theatre on April 5.
Expected to welcome the First Lady of Argentina back to Broadway are Scarlett Johansson, Jude Law, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Tommy Mottola, James Marsden, Whoopi Goldberg, Anna Wintour, Al Roker, Kelly Ripa, Barbara Walters, Hoda Kotb, Kim Cattrall, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, David Hyde Pierce, Famke Janssen, Christie Brinkley and John Noble.
Evita charts the rise and fall of Eva Peron, the one-time charismatic and glamorous young First Lady of Argentina, and includes songs such as “Buenos Aires,” “Another Suitcase in Another Hall” and “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.”
Joining Martin, Roger and Cerveris are Broadway veterans Max von Essen as Magaldi and Rachel Potter as the Mistress as well as Ashley Amber, George Lee Andrews, Wendi Bergamini, Eric L. Christian, Kristine Covillo, Colin Cunliffe, Margot de La Barre, Bradley Dean, Melanie Field, Jennie Ford, Bahiyah Sayyed Gaines, Constantine Germanacos, Laurel Harris, Nick Kenkel, Brad Little, Erica Mansfield, Emily Mechler, Sydney Morton, Jessica Lea Patty, Aleks Pevec, Kristie Dale Sanders, Timothy Shew, Michaeljon Slinger, Johnny Stellard, Alex Michael Stoll, Daniel Torres and Matt Wall. In addition, Christina DeCicco will serve as the alternate/standby for Eva Peron.
