You must love her! Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson joined the “descamisados” at the Marquis Theatre for a first-hand look at the starry revival of Evita, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical about the rise of Argentina’s charismatic First Lady. His epic portrait captures Michael Cerveris and Elena Roger as Juan and Eva Peron on the balcony of the Casa Rosada. Below them, from left, are Rachel Potter as Peron’s mistress, Max von Essen as Magaldi and Ricky Martin waving a white handkerchief as Che. To experience this exciting musical for yourself, get tickets to Evita, which opens April 5.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Click to e-mail Squigs. Photo by Matthew Murphy
