Tickets are now on sale for the world premiere of Kenneth Lonergan’s comedy Medieval Play at the Irene Diamond Stage in off-Broadway’s Pershing Square Signature Center. Starring Josh Hamilton, Tate Donovan, Anthony Arkin, Heather Burns, Kevin Geer and David Pittu, Medieval Play is also directed by Lonergan. The comedy begins performances May 15, with an official opening night on June 7. The production will play a limited engagement through June 24.
Set in the 14th century, two French mercenary knights set out on a quest for moral redemption. Medieval Play is a story of friendship, love, noble feats of arms, indiscriminate brutality, the progressive refinement of medieval table manners and the general decline of the chivalric ideal at the onset of the Great Papal Schism of 1378.
The Medieval Play will feature scenic design by Walt Spangler, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by David Van Tiegham and fight direction by J. David Brimmer.
