Michael Grandage’s revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita will receive a cast recording from Masterworks Broadway. Evita stars Elena Roger, Ricky Martin and Michael Cerveris will record the new cast album this month in anticipation of a June 26 release date. The album is currently available for pre-sale on Amazon.com. Evita opened at the Marquis Theatre on April 5.
Evita charts the rise and fall of Eva Peron, the charismatic and glamorous young First Lady of Argentina, and includes songs such as “Buenos Aires,” “Another Suitcase in Another Hall” and “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.”
The revival co-stars Broadway veterans Max von Essen as Magaldi and Rachel Potter as the Mistress. This will mark the sixth recording of Evita. Previous recordings include the 1976 concept album, the 1979 original Broadway cast recording with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin and the 1996 film soundtrack with Madonna. Grandage’s 2006 London revival also received a recording with Roger as Eva Peron.
