Halley Feiffer and C.J. Wilson complete the cast of Kenneth Lonergan’s Medieval Play, a world premiere presented by Signature Theatre. Feiffer and Wilson join previously announced cast members Tate Donovan, Josh Hamilton, Anthony Arkin, Heather Burns, Kevin Geer and David Pittu. Medieval Play begins performances May 15 in the Irene Diamond Stage at off-Broadway’s Pershing Square Signature Center. Directed by Lonergan, the new play will open June 7 and is set to play a limited engagement through June 24.
Set during the onset of the Great Papal Schism of 1378, Medieval Play is the story of two French mercenary knights who set out on a quest for relative moral redemption. Against the classic comic background of late 14th century ecclesiastical politics, Medieval Play is a story of friendship, love, noble feats of arms, indiscriminate brutality, the progressive refinement of medieval table manners and the general decline of the chivalric ideal.
Feiffer made her Broadway debut in The House of Blue Leaves and has appeared off-Broadway in subUrbia, Election Day, None of the Above and Tigers Be Still. Her film and TV credits include You Can Count on Me, Stephanie Daley, The Squid and the Whale and Margot at the Wedding. Wilson has appeared on Broadway in The Best Man, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Henry IV, Festen and A Steady Rain. Most recently, Wilson appeared in The Lady From Dubuque at Signature Theatre.
