Eleven-year-old Lilla Crawford is about to become an overnight Broadway star! On April 27, news broke the Billy Elliot veteran landed the coveted title role in James Lapine’s upcoming revival of Annie. The young star spoke with EW.com following her casting announcement and revealed which other Broadway stars she would most like to meet.
“I do like Sutton Foster and Kristin Chenoweth a lot, so it would be really fun to like, go to lunch with the two of them," Crawford said. "It sounds crazy, but maybe it’ll happen! I don’t know! But I do also like Raul Esparza and Matthew Broderick. Those are really good ones, too.”
We agree Lilla—a lunch with those four would be one fantastic Broadway gathering! Over lunch, Foster and Crawford could trade stories about playing the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Broadway.com dug up an online video of then eight-year-old Crawford in a production of Millie singing the big number “Gimme Gimme.” We can’t wait to hear her belt the classic tunes “Maybe” and “Tomorrow!”
