Rachel Potter has more than just a little touch of star quality. As the young mistress in the Tony-nominated revival of Evita, Potter holds her own against headliners Ricky Martin, Elena Roger and Michael Cerveris, and on May 13 Potter stepped into the spotlight. Potter took the stage at Joe’s Pub in celebration of her debut country EP, Live the Dream. “We wanted to make a record that joined pop country music with a rock edge—think Carrie Underwood or Taylor Swift with a Paramore twist,” Potter, who co-wrote the songs, has explained. On hand to help the singer/actress celebrate her recording debut was a woman who knows a little something about country music: superstar and Broadway vet Reba McEntire.
