Nicky Silver’s side-splitting comedy The Lyons stars 2012 Tony nominee Linda Lavin and Tony winner Dick Latessa as Rita and Ben Lyons, the unconventional and emotionally abusive parents of Curtis (Michael Esper) and Lisa (Kate Jennings Grant) Lyons. As the show begins, the Lyons family is at a crossroads as their patriarch lies dying and the three remaining family members must figure out how to move on and heal old wounds. Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson set out to capture this over-the-top family, and in this fitting family portrait, see an emotional Esper and Jennings Grant surround a dying Dick Latessa, while Lavin casually thumbs through a magazine. Be sure to check out the wild Lyons family in their natural habitat at the Cort Theatre!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet.
