Lonely I'm Not star Olivia Thirlby and Gemma Arterton will join Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark leading man Reeve Carney in the previously announced Jeff Buckley biofilm Mystery White Boy, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail. Both women will play love interests of the late rock musician (played by Carney). Directed by Jake Scott, the film will also star Harry Treadaway as Buckley's first drummer Matt Johnson. While Carney is busy rehearsing Buckley's music, the film is still looking for full financing.
Buckley died at the age of 30 in a drowning accident in Memphis, having only released one studio album, Grace. He is best known for his popular cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." Buckley received a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal for "Everybody Here Wants You" from his posthumous album, Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk. The Last Goodbye, a rock musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet composed of Buckley's music, made its world premiere in 2010 at the Williamstown Theater Festival.
In addition to Lonely, I'm Not, Thirlby has appeared off-Broadway in Farragut North. Her many film credits include Juno, The Wackness, No Strings Attached, Breaking Upwards, Being Flynn, The Darkest Hour and New York, I Love You. Arterton has appeared in films such as Quantum of Solace, Tamara Drewe, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Rocknrolla, Clash of the Titans and Pirate Radio. Treadaway played Joy Division drummer Steve Morris in Control. His other film credits include City of Ember and Fish Tank.
