Broadway veteran Benjamin Walker may star in director Edward Zwick’s upcoming film The Great Wall, according to Deadline.com. Produced by Legendary Pictures, the film has already cast Henry Cavill (Man of Steel). True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard is also in discussion for the same role as Walker.
The Great Wall follows British warriors traveling through 15th century China who happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols. Something inhuman and more dangerous lurks as well.
Walker is the title star of the upcoming film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. His Broadway credits include Inherit the Wind, Les Liasons Dangereuses and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. He was slated to star opposite Bradley Cooper and Diego Boneta in Paradise Lost, but the film was postponed due to budget concerns.
