Broadway vets Brynn O’Malley, Clarke Thorell and J. Elaine Marcos are the latest Broadway vets to join the cast of the upcoming revival of Annie. They join the previously announced Katie Finneran as Miss Hannigan, Anthony Warlow as Daddy Warbucks and Lilla Crawford as Annie. The musical, directed by James Lapine, begins previews at the Palace Theatre on October 3, with opening night set for November 8.
O’Malley will star as Daddy Warbucks’ secretary Grace Farrell, with Thorell as Miss Hannigan’s ne’er-do-well brother Rooster Hannigan and J. Elaine Marcos as Lily St. Regis, Rooster’s floozy girlfriend. Annie will also star Emily Rosenfeld as Molly, Tyrah Skye Odoms as Kate, Junah Jang as Tessie, Georgi James as Pepper, Madi Rae DiPietro as July and Taylor Richardson as Duffy. Jaidyn Young will serve as the standby for Annie, Pepper, Duffy and July. The production also features Ashley Blanchet, Jane Blass, Jeremy Davis, Merwin Foard, Joel Hatch, Ryan Kasprzak, Amanda Lea LaVergne, Gavin Lodge, Liz McCartney, Desi Oakley, David Rossetti, Sarah Solie, Dennis Stowe and Ryan VanDenBoom.
Inspired by the famous comic strip Little Orphan Annie, Annie first opened on Broadway on April 21, 1977. The musical played 2,377 performances before closing on January 2, 1983. The show, which follows a young Depression era orphan who goes to temporarily live with the rich and famous Daddy Warbucks, won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The show features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan.
O'Malley's Broadway credits include Wicked (as Nessarose), Sunday in the Park with George, Hairspray and Beauty and the Beast. Thorell has appeared on Broadway in Tommy, Hairspray, Titanic and Mamma Mia!. Marcos has appeared in the Broadway musicals Priscilla Queen of the Desert, A Chorus Line, The Wedding Singer, Sweet Charity, Wonderful Town, Flower Drum Song and Miss Saigon.
