The hit ‘80s jukebox tuner Rock of Ages will open at the Venetian hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in December. No cast, director or official start date have been announced.
Featuring a book by Chris D’Arienzo and a score of classic rock songs, Rock of Ages is the story of Drew, an aspiring rock star with big dreams who works at the legendary Los Angeles rock club, the Bourbon Room. Rock of Ages first opened at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre on April 7, 2009, before transferring to the Helen Hayes Theatre on March 24, 2011. The Broadway production currently stars Justin Matthew Sargent as Drew, Ashley Spencer as Sherrie and Jeremy Woodard as Stacee Jaxx.
The Vegas production will feature classic ‘80s songs “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “Here I Go Again,” “I Wanna Know What Love Is” and more. A film adaptation of Rock of Ages starring Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta is set to hit theatres June 15.
