The Tony-winning revival of Anything Goes, starring Stephanie J. Block and Joel Grey, will close in eight weeks. The Roundabout Theatre Company production will play its final performance at Broadway’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre on August 5.
Anything Goes features music and lyrics by Cole Porter, an original book by P.G. Wodehouse, Guy Bolton, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse and a new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.
The Roundabout production opened on April 7, 2011 and originally starred Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Sutton Foster. The show won three 2011 Tony Awards: Best Revival of a Musical, Best Choreography for director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall and Best Actress in a Musical for Foster.
In addition to Block and Grey, Anything Goes features John McMartin, Julie Halston, Bill English, Erin Mackey, Robert Petkoff, Jessica Stone, Ed Dixon, Robert Creighton, Andrew Cao and Raymond J. Lee.
The national tour of Anything Goes, starring Rachel York, begins in October 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio and will continue on to over 20 additional cities in 2012-2013.
