Nicky Silver’s comedy The Lyons has set a July 1 closing date at Broadway's Cort Theatre. Directed by Mark Brokaw and starring 2012 Tony nominee Linda Lavin, the comedy will have played a total of 21 previews and 80 regular performances at the time of closing.
The Lyons stars Lavin as Rita Lyons, the indomitable matriarch of a family at a major crossroads: her husband is dying, her son is in a dubious relationship, her daughter is struggling to stay sober, and on top of it all, she can't settle on a new design for the living room. In addition to Lavin, the production also stars Dick Latessa, Kate Jennings Grant, Charlie Hofheimer.
After a fall run at off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre, The Lyons opened on April 23. In addition to Lavin, the production also stars Dick Latessa as Ben, Kate Jennings Grant as Lisa, Charlie Hofheimer as Curtis, Gregory Woodell as Brian and Brenda Pressley as Nurse. Michael Esper originated the role of Curtis, but left the production on June 10.
