Original Anything Goes cast member Joyce Chittick (Virtue) will return to the Cole Porter revival as Erma beginning June 19. Chittick will fill in for Jessica Stone through July 31 while the actress takes a leave of absense. Stone will return to the production August 1.
The Roundabout Theatre Company production of Anything Goes opened April 7, 2011 at Broadway’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The revival won three Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. The classic musical comedy tells the story of the passengers aboard the S.S. American, including nightclub singer Reno Sweeney (Stephanie J. Block), gangster Moonface Martin (Joel Grey) and his shifty sidekick Erma (Stone). The musical features classic songs including “You’re the Top” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.” Anything Goes will play its final performance on August 5.
Chittick’s Broadway credits include Cats, The Who’s Tommy, Big, Once Upon a Mattress, Cabaret, Seussical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Wonderful Town, Sweet Charity and The Pajama Game. Chittick understudied the role of Erma during her Anything Goes run.
