Tribeca Film has acquired the U.S. rights to Struck by Lightning, a high school dramedy written by and starring Glee's Chris Colfer. Directed by Brian Dannelly (Saved), the indie will get a late 2012 theatrical release.
Struck by Lightning tells the story of Carson (Colfer), a jaded high school outcast who gets literally struck by lightning, leading him to recount his final weeks in flashbacks. The cast also features Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids), Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding), Allison Janney (The West Wing), Allie Grant, Matt Prokop and Ashley Rickards.
Struck By Lightning premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. It is produced by David Permut, Roberto Aguire and Mia Chang and co-produced by Permut Presentations and Camellia Entertainment in association with Inphenate and Evil Media Empire.
