After the Tony Awards have all been given out and Broadway approaches the sweltering summer season, it’s not uncommon for several shows to post closing notices in order to make room for the next season’s new crop of plays and musicals. In recent weeks Broadway has already seen the curtain go down on hit plays like Other Desert Cities and Venus in Fur, and by summer’s end, feel-good musicals Sister Act, Godspell and Priscilla Queen of the Desert will vacate their Broadway homes.
